I find if I take my dikes and use the cutting edges of them to grip the impact bit close to the collet, I can lever the dikes to pull the bit out of the collet a small amount. It almost seems like there used to be a shim in the bottom of the collet to keep the bits from going in too deep and mine fell out??? It would be useful to know an elegant technique for dealing with small slip rings. Assuming you put the drill bit in and tightened the keyless chuck by hand, put on a work glove and grasp the part ridgiv the chuck at the front of the drill, grasp the other part and twist the front part anti clockwise.

When the quick change assembly is on the tool, you stuuck tap there. You rivgid to use an extention with a slot cut in it for proper use. If the hole around the bit is wet, you may have drilled into an iron pipe, if it smells it was the sewer drain.
