I’ve virtualized lcd2 XP machine into VirtualBox, and it seems pretty stable. See STEP 3 for a picture of this dialog. Do not plug in both serial and USB cables. I think that you end up with a time-limited trial if you use that method.

Do not allow OS to pic default driver! There also may be a dialog box that mplab icd2 the user that a device data base is being built or updated.
