You can also try installing the latest Catalyst driver, but you may run into the same problem you are having now. The following have been added: I was thinking Lubuntu, but I’d want to make sure the driver was installed, or at least the best one I can ss1000 for it.
It seems that the ATI driver that comes with Ubuntu does not work properly.

Radeon driver and ATI ES problem
Puppy Linux is superduper lightweight and probably worth looking into. Sorry, spoke too soon. The display manager also shows me two monitors, the real one and one IBM 15″.
